Recruitment for 2017 Summer Camp
We have had an erratic 2 years since starting Math Corps Philadelphia. I won’t recount all the details here, but know that we had our share of ups and downs. The ups mostly involved caring for our students and Math Corps Philly family. The downs mostly involved raising funds to make sure our program ran smoothly. Now we have another year ahead of us. The year to come will be easier and run more smoothly because we’ve learned a few things along the way. We are in year 3 and we are committed to continuing our work helping as many Philadelphia students as possible. That’s what we do, we help Philadelphia students academically, emotionally, and socially. The best part of what we do is that we get helped too. We grow and learn! In giving, we also receive. That makes what we do fulfilling and endless.
While we prepare for our future, we hope you will join us in making our programs more successful. You can refer students and staff to our summer camp, volunteer your time or professional services, or make a donation. Every little bit helps! Our students appreciate what we do for them!
This year our fundraising goals will be more aggressive than in previous years. Thanks to our supporters, donors, grantors, and funders, we met or exceeded our goals these past years. We look forward to doing the same this year.
Wayne State University and National Science Foundation
Although our annual budget has increased, so did our funding…
Math Corps Philadelphia is among the sites included in Wayne State University’s Math Corps replication study, which is funded by the National Science Foundation. We are humbled to have been included in this project after only 2 years of hard work and dedication. The Math Corps team at Wayne State University dedicated almost 25 years of time, work, and love to helping kids in Detroit. Their labors have produced fruit as many students have graduated from high school and gone on to college and careers. Some of their former students continued to work with the Math Corps and have taken on administrative roles in their programs. As we at Math Corps Philadelphia continue to grow, we look to our Math Corps family at Wayne State University and the other sites for encouragement and motivation.

The year ahead is a long one, but we are ready and excited to get out there and do what we do. Follow us on our journey. You can find photos, videos, and other news and events on our social media sites, our website, and through our newsletter. Keep up with us and experience our joys vicariously! Or, consider joining us!
