How did we do it? How did we keep Philadelphia’s middle school students engaged this summer? We had help, and lots of it! We had 20 of the best high school students in Philadelphia mentor our middle school students and they loved it. All we had to do was sit back, teach math, provide meals and let our kids do the rest. They had fun, they learned math, they wrote, sang, danced, ate, and so much more for four weeks! They even did homework, took quizzes and tests, and woke up early every day to get to camp on time. Why? Well, you should ask them! All I know is that we love the kids and they come back for more.
What would you do to give a child this experience? How would you begin to get them involved in Math Corps Philadelphia’s Summer Camp Program? Well, for starters, you can attend an Information Session to learn more about the Math Corps. While you are there you can also learn about the admissions and enrollment processes and maybe even meet our Director, Chalon Downs.
There will be three sessions this year: October 25th, November 8th and November 15th. All sessions will be held at the Wynnefield Branch of the Free Library at 6:30 p.m. We hope to see you there.
