Math Corps Philadelphia Overview
Math Corps Philadelphia is a combined academic enrichment and mentoring program for Philadelphia public and charter school students. Math Corps Philadelphia is an expansion of Wayne State University’s Math Corps. Since 1992, the WSU Math Corps has worked to provide Detroit’s children with the kinds of educational and lifetime opportunities that all kids deserve. Math Corps Philadelphia strives to provide the same for Philadelphia kids. The Math Corps has always been about making a difference and changing lives.
At its core, the Math Corps is about loving kids and holding a very simple but unwavering belief – that all children have a unique and special greatness within them and that, through hard work and a commitment to excellence and with the support of a caring family or community, that greatness can be realized.
NOTE: Math Corps Philly draws its inspiration and philosophy from the highly successful Math Corps at Wayne State University (https://www.mathcorps.org/about/). The program was founded by Stephen Kahn and Leonard Boehm in 1992. Cleveland State University (http://www.mathcorpscle.org/) started Math Corps in 2012 and continues to have success.
